Alberta Vance Edwards

Elk Park/Candler Alberta Vance Edwards, 79, of 120 Old Mill Road, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at her residence in Elk Park. A native of Avery County, she had resided in Candler from 1960 to 2011 moving to Elk Park in 2013. She was the daughter of the late James Jim and Ida Bell Rodifer Vance and was also preceded in death by her husband Jack Edwards who died in May 2005; sister, Ethel Painter and brother, Bud Vance. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Stoney Fork Baptist Church, was a Homecare Nurses Aid and most importantly loved caring for people Surviving are children, Danny Edwards and wife JoAnne of Rosman, Johnny Edwards of Candler and Shirley Edwards of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren, Angie, Ashley, Daniel, Stacey, Jack, Brandon, Anthony and Joseph; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Davis and husband Fred and Bonnie Forbes all of Newland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Massey officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
