Alice Laws Gilliam

Alice Laws Gilliam, 80, of Fairview passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Fleshers of Fairview Healthcare Center. A native of Madison County, she was a resident of Buncombe County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late John Laws and Flossie Howell English. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Phillip Gilliam, Sr., and a brother, Roy English. Mrs. Gilliam was a member of the First Church of God in West Asheville. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Rogers of Fairview; son, Sherrill Phillip Gilliam, Jr. of Fairview; brothers: Robert Z. English, and Billy M. English both of Madison County; grandchildren: Chris Rogers (Erin), Kim Rogers (Brian), Angela Rogers (Elijah), Phillip Gilliam, and Cheryl Cutshall (Adam); and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Dedrick Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Cane Creek Cemetery.
