Asheville - Alvin Harold Lovin, 90, of Aston Park Health Care Center died Monday March 22, 2004 at St. Josephs Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, he had lived in Madison County prior to moving to Buncombe County in 1952. He retired from Blaylock Lumber Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a former assistant Boy Scout Master and an avid fly fisherman. He was a son of the late Elzie Nathaniel and Clete Mae Dodd Lovin. Surviving are his wife, Irene Mary Chumney Lovin of Aston Park Health Care Center; daughter, Gerry Lovin Jenkins and husband Dwight of Arden; sons, James Harold Lovin and wife Jane of Swannanoa, Billy Joe Lovin and wife Debra of Asheville, Bob G. Lovin of Asheville and Jerry Alvin Lovin and wife Brenda of Raleigh; sister, Lucille Payne of Candler; brother, Vernon Clint Lovin of Asheville and 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Crayton officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
