Anne Elizabeth Monteath Hyatt, born on March 28, 1937, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Elderberry Health Care Center in Marshall. A native and lifelong resident of Western North Carolina, Anne’s life was characterized by her unwavering dedication and service to her family and community.
For many years, Anne worked alongside her cherished husband, Richard Morgan Hyatt, who preceded her in death on August 27, 2010.
Anne was proud to be a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization that fostered companionship and community involvement. She was also of the Episcopal Faith.
Her legacy is carried on by her loving sons, Michael Hyatt and Bobby Hyatt and wife Sheila; and her cherished granddaughters: Mickey Smith and spouse Megan, Rebecca Freeman, and Vanessa Freeman; and two nieces and a nephew. They will forever remember Anne for her spirited personality and her enduring influence on their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Graham Monteath, Jr. and Eloise Elizabeth Patterson Monteath, as well as her brother, Robert G. Monteath, III, and sister, Barbara Buchanan. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Kat Wilson officiating.
