Arlene Rhew Lee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on January 4, 1933, in Asheville, Arlene’s life was marked by her dedication to family, faith, and service to others.

Arlene graduated from Oakley School and became a cherished employee at the Charles George VA Medical Center, where she worked in the gift shop for more than 15 years. Her warm smile and kind nature brought joy to many visitors, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to serving those who served our country.

A proud longtime member of Oakley Baptist Church, Arlene found deep fulfillment in her faith and her church community. This sense of belonging was a cornerstone of her life, where she touched the lives of many with her compassion and warmth.

Arlene was a loving mother to her sons, John "Johnny" Dexter Lee, Jr. and his wife Doris, and Michael Gary Lee. She took immense pride in her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were a source of joy and happiness throughout her life. Arlene is also survived by many extended family members who held her close to their hearts.

Arlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Dexter Lee, Sr., who passed away on February 16, 2019, and her daughter, Debra Melovia Lee. She was also predeceased by her parents, Charles and Lillie Hamlin Rhew and her daughter-in-law, Shellie Lee.

As her family mourns the loss of this remarkable woman, they find solace in the knowledge that she has been reunited with her husband and loved ones in peace. Arlene Lee’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched.
