Asa Lawrence "Larry" Beck Jr.

Leicester Asa Lawrence Larry Beck, Jr., 65, of 17 Hill and Dale Road, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Charles A. George VA Medical Center. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, Mr. Beck was an employee of the Charles A. George VA Medical Center. He was a US Navy veteran. He was the son of the late Asa Lawrence Beck, Sr. and Mary Opal Smathers Beck. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Beck. Surviving are his wife, Ramona Smith Beck; daughters: Lisa Marie Opal Beck and Jennifer Lynn Beck; granddaughter, Kayleigh Beck; brothers: Jimmy and Albert Beck; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the Beck family.
