Baxter Renfro

Skyland - Baxter Renfro, 87, of 423 Mills Gap Road, Ralph Lane, died Sunday October 20, 2002 at The Blue Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. A native of Yancey County, he resided in Buncombe County most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a son of the late Back Renfro and Mary Phillips Burrell and was also preceded in death by a son, Beachard Renfro and a sister, Hazel Candler. Surviving are his wife, Irene Caldwell Renfro of the home; daughters, Shirley Evans of Upper Marlboro, Md, Ann Brim of Laurel , Md. and Phyllis De Leon of Virginia Beach, Va.; sons, Dean Renfro of Weaverville and Michael Eugene Renfro of Petersburg; step daughters, Patricia Ann Robinson of Weaverville, Linda Jean Robinson of Barnardsville, Debra Lee Plemmons of Arden and Janice Irene Metcalf of the home; sister, Nellie Lee Metz of Barnardsville and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Homer Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M.
