Bernice Davis Griffin

Asheville - Bernice Davis Griffin, 81, died Thursday November 19, 2009 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Haywood County, she had lived in Buncombe County since 1950. She was a daughter of the late Orion and Bertha Moore Davis and the wife of the late James Albert Griffin. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Ann Bailey. Surviving are her sisters; Leona Byrd of Brevard, Mary Evelyn Cogdill and Ruth Stevenson both of Waynesville and Pauline Rigsby of Concord; brothers, Ray Davis of Sylva and Wayne Davis of Waynesville and grandson James Edward Bailey of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Anderson Coffey and Amos Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in Plott Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
