Betty Jean Stephenson

Betty Jean Stephenson, 85 of Swannanoa, went home to glory on Friday, October 18, 2013. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Mollie Maw and Henry Paw Stephenson. She was also preceded in death by a brothers, William and Charles; sister Annie McNeil; and sons Dennis and Terry. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Horace Stephenson of the home; daughters: Jan Phillips and her husband Steve of Easly, SC, Brenda McFalls and her husband David of Woodfin, and Katherine Moore and her husband Larry of Fairview; sons: Curtis Stephenson and his wife Lisa of Fletcher, and Kevin Stephenson and his wife Tammy of Asheville; daughter-in-law, Katie Stephenson of Swannanoa; brother, Daniel Stephenson of Asheville; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren including a very special granddaughter and caregiver Chevelle Moore of Fairview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 21, 2013, at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Sky View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
