Betty Reed

Asheville - Betty Jean Gillen Reed, 65, of 137 A Spruce Hill Apts. died Wednesday May 30, 2007 at the John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of Mary Ruth Stamey Gillen of Asheville and the late Albert Bert Austin Gillen. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert Gillen, Jr. and a sister, Barbara Brock. Surviving in addition her mother are her daughters, Debra Faurote of Swannanoa and Stacy Odom and husband Charlie of Taylorsville; sons, Britt Reed and Edward Reed and wife Tanya all of Oteen; brothers, Charles Gillen of Georgia and Gary Gillen of Hendersonville; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Pastors Clyde Mabery and Frank Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
