Betty Viands

Asheville Betty June Perty Viands, 61, of 2263 New Leicester Hwy passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She attended Browns Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Viands was a daughter of the late Vernon Victor Penley, Sr. and Mary Ethel Cothran Penley. Surviving are her husband, George Anthony Viands of the home; daughters, June Renee Webster of Candler, Melissa Dawn Lisa Webster, Cynthia Ann Sister Wright and Mary Ann Elizabeth Viands all of Asheville; sons, Anthony Ray Tony Webster of Woodfin and George Anthony G.J. Viands, Jr. of Asheville; sisters, Sharon Woody and Elaine Elkins; brother, Vernon Penley and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Penley officiating. Burial will follow in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
