Brenda Gail Maney Bates

Asheville - Brenda Gail Maney Bates, 57, of 49 Langwell Avenue, died Tuesday November 4, 2008 at her residence after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she loved to draw, loved Little League Baseball and was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Harold Dean and Beulah Faye Smathers Maney. Surviving are her son Jonathan K. Bates of the home; brothers, Harold Dean Maney II and wife Cristina of Ridgefield CT, Fred R. Maney and wife Kathy of Hoopers Creek and Jon A. Maney of Gibsonville; sisters, Linda M. Thorpe and husband Burt of Orlando, FL, Susan M. Marshall and husband David of Allen, TX and Faela J. Maney of Columbia, SC; nieces and nephews, Dean Maney, Karen Maney, Chris Marshall, Alyssa Maney, Jenny Marshall and Angie Marshall. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Brockwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
