Bruce "Bo" George Carr, a gifted jewelry maker and independent craftsman and artist, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Kingsport, Tennessee. Born on April 26, 1946, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Bruce carried a lifelong love for the outdoors, coupled with a kind, gentle demeanor and a clever, artistic spirit that touched all who knew him.

Bruce served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a testament to his dedication and courage. Following his military service, he made Buncombe County his home for much of his life, where he continued to cultivate his artistic talents, creating jewelry that reflected both his creativity and the care he put into every piece.

He is survived by his beloved daughter Mary Jo Rosa and her husband Felipe, as well as Amanda Jane Carr and her husband Phil Palmer. Bruce was also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry on his legacy. His family circle further includes his sisters, Deborah Carr and Rebecca Kinney and her husband Chip; and his brother-in-law, Tony Talis; along with several nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ernest Carr and Marjory King Elmore Carr; his sister, Loralee Talis; and brothers, Charles Carr, Jr. and Glenn Carr. His memories remain cherished by those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service to honor Bruce's life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, located at 962 Old US Highway 70, Black Mountain, North Carolina 28711. Military Honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard. This service will be a moment for family, friends, and community to come together to remember a man who lived with passion, kindness, and artistic brilliance.

Bruce "Bo" George Carr’s life was one of dedication—to country, family, craft, and the natural world he so deeply loved. He will be remembered not only for his creations but for the warmth and creativity he brought into the lives of all who knew him.
