Buddy Gibbs

Woodfin - William Alfred Buddy Gibbs, 64, of Woodfin, passed away unexpectedly August 13, 2015 at his home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Gibbs worked as a truck driver and mechanic, and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed wood carving as a hobby. Mr. Gibbs was the son of the late Robert Alfred and Mary Frances Fox Gibbs. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Gibbs. Surviving are his children: William Gibbs and wife Bernadette, and Jennifer Gibbs Solesby and husband Bruce; nine grandchildren; brother, Larry Gibbs; sisters: Rebecca Lee, Patricia White, and Debra Barnes; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shane Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in the Gibbs Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
