Champ Chandler

Asheville - Champ Dempsey Chandler, 83, passed away Friday March 20, 2009. A native of Mitchell County, he had lived in Buncombe County for several years. He was a son of the late Lloyd and Magnolia Thomas Chandler and was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Chandler and great grandson, Trenton Fore. Surviving are his daughters, Karen Hughes, Brenda Chandler with whom he made his home for the past 9 years and Deborah Chandler; sons, Troy and David Chandler all of Asheville; sister, Dorothy Price; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday at the Chandler Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
