Cheryl Hinkle Vaughn

Cheryl Hinkle Vaughn, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, at Elizabeth House in Hendersonville. She was 68.

Born on June 12, 1958, in San Diego, California, Cheryl was known as a true caregiver, a quality that extended far beyond her career as a nurse. Her caring spirit touched the lives of those around her and reflected the compassion, steadiness, and kindness with which she moved through the world.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Vaughn, who died on June 24, 2022, and by her parents, John Woodson Hinkle, Jr. and Blye Ramey Hinkle.

She leaves behind dear companion, Roy "Pete" Penland, whose presence in her life brought friendship and support, as well as her special friend, Cynthia Swann. The relationships she shared with them were an important part of her life and will remain cherished in memory.

Cheryl will be remembered for her generous heart, her devotion to caring for others, and the quiet but lasting difference she made in the lives of many. Her memory will be held with love by those who knew her and by all who were comforted by her compassion.
