Asheville Dillard Searsey, 72, of 100 Skyline Terrace went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 following heart complications. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a firefighter and EMT with the Asheville Fire Department where he retired, was former owner and operator of Northland Barber Shop where he cut hair for many years, was a former member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church, was a member of the Armadillo C.B. Radio Club with the handle, Seed and he served in the U.S. National Guard. Mr. Searsey was a son of the late William Henry Searsey and Annie Leona Fowler Searsey. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Searsey; brother, Lee Roy Searsey and son-in-law, Charles Mulvaney. Surviving are his daughter, Freda Mulvaney of Candler; sisters, Irene Collins and husband, Ralph of Easley, SC and Thelma Taylor of Candler; brother Elmer Searsey of Candler; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813.
