Donald Ray Case, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Asheville on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 73.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Donald was known not only for his military service but also for his caring nature and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a family man; his love for his wife, Wanda Sue Case, was evident in their nearly 50 years of marriage.
Donald took immense pride in his children: Marcia Case, Mark E. Case and his wife Stephanie, and Stephen J. Case and his wife Amanda. His grandchildren, Nevaeh Lynn Case and Jack Roach, brought him much joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He enjoyed sharing his passions, including model railroads and assembling model cars, often inviting family to join in these fulfilling hobbies.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will deeply miss his kind heart and spirited presence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Weaver Case and Beulah Elliott Case Allen, as well as his siblings: Paul Elliott, Jimmy Case, Jerry Case, Irma Bartlett, and Roger Case. Their love remains with him, held in the memories of those who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM, in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home in Asheville. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM, and Donald will then be laid to rest at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at 2:00 PM. The United States Marine Corps will provide military honors at the cemetery.
