Donnie L. Benson

Asheville - Donnie L. Benson, Sr., 56, of 516 Deaverview Road, died Monday August 18, 2003 at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a retired plumber and a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a son of Thelma Ledford Benson of Asheville and the late Horace Benson. Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughter, Melissa Benson of Asheville; sons, Donnie Benson, Jr. and Michael Benson both of Asheville; grandchildren, Chasity, Shaun, Sydney, Sierra and Olivia; sisters, Jean Baldwin and Linda Towel both of Asheville; brother, Bobby Benson of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Moore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
