Dorothy "Dot" Jackson Darnell

Dorothy "Dot Jackson Darnell, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina, at the age of 81. Born on December 5, 1944, in Buncombe County, Dot dedicated her life to her family and instilled in them the values of hard work and unconditional love.

Throughout her life, Dot worked tirelessly to provide for her family, always eager to lend a helping hand. She worked for Farnam Custom Products for 35 years and loved her job and the friends she made there. She was known for her warmth and kindness, qualities that endeared her to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. As a faithful member of the Baptist faith, she found strength and solace in her faith, which guided her through challenging times.

Dot is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Roy E. Darnell; and their children: Rodney Darnell, Mary Hagan (Phillip), and Vickie Darnell (George Sircey). She was a proud grandmother to Daniel Warren (Brittany), Felisha Warren (Jonathan), Tiffany Todd (Jody), Amanda Allen, Tyler Hipps (Marissa), Makaila Warren, and Anna Darnell; as well as a great-grandmother to many. Dot’s legacy of love will continue to shine through her family, who will carry forward her spirit and cherished memories.

She is also survived by her sisters: Betty Knighten, Geraldene Snyder, and Wilma Gentry (Donnie); along with a devoted sister-in-law, Shirley Goodson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. In addition she is survived by her close family friends, Keith and Caroline Trull and Carol Messer who loved Dot very much.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lula Bell Hightower Jackson; her sons, Bobby Darnell and Lee Roy Darnell; twelve siblings; and her brothers-in-law, Glenn Darnell and Cecil Darnell all of whom she loved deeply.

A graveside service honoring Dot's life will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville, North Carolina. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, with a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the remarkable life she led and the joy she brought to so many.

Dot will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her boundless generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and influence those fortunate enough to have known her.
