Dorothy "Dottie" Pressley Sharpe

Dorothy "Dottie" Pressley Sharpe, born on July 10, 1936, in Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her hometown on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. She was a cherished member of her community and a beloved figure to all who knew her.

Dottie dedicated many years of her life working for CP Clare before serving as a Teacher's Assistant at West Buncombe Elementary School for two decades. Her commitment to education and her passion for helping children left a lasting impact on countless lives, and she was revered by students and colleagues alike.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Dottie was a longtime member of North Asheville Baptist Church, but attended services for the past several years at The Laurels of GreenTree Ridge. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she would often reflect the love and support she received from her church community.

Dottie is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle Bartlett, and her husband Brian. She proudly lived to see her grandchildren, Cameron Sharpe, Seth Bartlett, and Jared Bartlett, flourish, as well as her step-grandchildren: Daniel, Tommy, Donnie, Lewis, Diadota, Layne, Joshua, and Heather. She held a special place in her heart for each one of them.

In addition she is survived by her nephews:Tommy Lawrence, Jerry Lawrence, Charles Bradley, and Douglas Bradley, will also remember her warmth and kindness.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Pressley and Lavada Dockery Swann; her husband, Albert Sharpe, I; her son, Albert "Roy" Sharpe, II; her sisters, Grace Carol Lawrence, and Mary Bradley and her husband Charles; her niece, Susan Carol Alfaro; and her nephew, Clifton Bradley. Their memories will surely be honored by all those who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dottie's life in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home in Asheville, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2025, with Rev. Richard White officiating. Her family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Dottie’s spirit will continue to live on in those she leaves behind, as they carry forward her love, kindness, and unwavering support.
