Edith Mae Thorpe

Asheville Edith Mae Thorpe, 49, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Leonard Craig and Shirley Taylor Creasman. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Martin Roosevelt Craig. Edith was a teacher with Head Start for more than 10 years before becoming a CNA with Mission Hospitals where she worked for more than 10 years before retiring in December of 2015. Surviving are her husband, Gary Alan Thorpe; daughters: Angela Mae Thorpe, and Marea Facundo; sisters: Vicki Sweat and husband Tim, and Nancy Hipps and husband Chris; brother, Joseph Leonard Craig, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Daryl Overton officiating.
