Edward "Ray" Dills, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on June 22, 1964, in Bellflower, California, Ray's life was one marked by warmth, camaraderie, and a genuine love for those around him.
Known for his outgoing nature, Ray enjoyed spending time in the company of friends and was often found sharing stories and laughter at the VFW and other places, where he delighted in a good beer and the vibrant fellowship of his peers. His friendly spirit and welcoming presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ray is lovingly remembered by his mother, Ruby Jelene Hawkins Dills, who provided a steady source of care and support throughout his life. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert Dills and wife Teri; along with his nephew, Nicholas Dills. Of great significance in Ray’s life was his special friend, Mike, who shared in many moments of friendship and companionship. Additionally, Ray’s beloved dog was a constant source of comfort and joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Dills; and his sister, Brenda Dills, who remain in the hearts of his family.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home located at 1428 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806. The service will begin at 3:00 PM. This gathering will serve as an opportunity for all who knew him to reflect on the meaningful connections he fostered and to bid farewell to a man whose presence was both vibrant and sincere.
Edward "Ray" Dills’s legacy is one of fellowship and genuine kindness. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have shared in his company.
