Elezene Shook Robinson, affectionately known as "Zene," was born on December 2, 1931, in Madison County. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Asheville, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew her.
As a devoted homemaker, Zene dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a loving home. She had a special affinity for flowers, which mirrored her vibrant personality and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
Zene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Roy Lee Robinson, who passed away on May 13, 2010. Together they built a life rich with love and memories that will resonate through generations. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William Wade Shook and Oda Belle Honeycutt Shook; her grandson, Tim Hightower; her sister, Rosa Lee Shook and her husband Donald; and her brothers, Goldman Shook and Joe Damaggio Shook.
Zene is survived by her children: Trish Watts and her husband Jerry, Darlene Jones and her husband Robert, Phil Robinson, and April Puglisi and her husband Paul. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Ward and her husband Travis, and Nick Robinson and his wife Brittany. The joy of being a great-grandmother was evident in her life, as she is survived by great-grandchildren: Brittany Stout, Jennifer Ward, and Cody Ward; along with her great-great-grandchildren: Natalee Grace Boone, Madison Stout, Paytton Stout, and Courtney McGauhey.
Zene is also survived by her sisters: Henrietta Shook, Eloise Shook Robinson and her husband Joseph Howard Robinson, and Martha Lou Smith and her husband John; along with her sister-in-law, Jane Taylor. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom carry forward her spirit and the values she instilled in them.
A remarkable woman, Zene will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A private service to celebrate her life will be held later in the spring.
