Elizabeth "Lib" Grindstaff

Asheville Elizabeth Lib Lena Piercy Grindstaff, 87, of Asheville, passed away Monday September 15, 2008 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and former resident of Burke County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1989. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Morganton, N.C. Mrs. Grindstaff was a daughter of the late Moran Wesley Piercy and Ruth Ernestine Zachary Piercy and also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Grindstaff who died March 28, 1999 and a son, Ronald Melvin Grindstaff who died January 12, 1995. Surviving are her daughters, Nina Marston and Pat Allman both of Asheville; son, Earl Grindstaff of Morganton; sister, Peggy Jolly of Spartanburg, S.C.; brothers, J.W. Piercy of Old Fort and Jerry Piercy of Arden; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2 to 2:45 P.M.
