Elmer Anderson Sr.

Asheville - Elmer Anderson, Sr., 74, of 100 Cherrio Lane died Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health.. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mr. Anderson was a self employed mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. He was a son of the late Willie Anderson and late MurFule Sprinkle Anderson Grant. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie Anderson; brothers, Ernest, Earl and Everett Anderson. Surviving are his wife Edith Eileen McCoy Anderson of the home; daughters, Susie Hipps of Swannanoa and Brenda Gail Sherman of TN; sons, Elmer Anderson, Jr. and Eddie Anderson both of Asheville and William Bill Anderson of Charlotte; brother, Michael Grant of Asheville and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs Lanny Cobb and Justin Westall officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
