Frances M. Rice

Weaverville/Largo, FL Frances Metcalf Rice, 84, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at her home in Weaverville. Mrs. Rice was a resident of Buncombe County most of her life. She was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, FL and attended Oakley UMC in the summer. She was a daughter of the late Kelly Harley Metcalf and Victoria Corn Metcalf. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Barry Ballard and second husband, Boyd Rice; sister, R. Burnisee Moss and brothers, Niven and Layne Metcalf. Surviving are her daughter, Deborah B. Houser and husband John; son, Steve Ballard; stepson, Bob Alexander; grandchildren, Kelly Houser and wife Heidi, Jill Robinson and husband Jason and Stephanie Ballard; great grandchildren, Fox and Rainer Robinson and Joseph Houser; brother, Norman Metcalf and wife Nell; sister-in-law, Jackie Metcalf. Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2011 at Oakley United Methodist Church with Rev. Shelly Webb and Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 P.M. Sunday at the church.
