George Bunyon Surrett

Leicester - George Bunyon Surrett, 101, of 51 Clark Cove Road, died Sunday March 10, 2002 at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a member of Jones Valley Baptist Church and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a son of the late Commodore and Julia Louise Bradburn Surrett. Surviving are his sister, Annie Freeman of Leicester; Brothers, Bluford and Silas Surrett, both of Leicester and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Jones Valley Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Gillispie and Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
