Georgia Brown Medford

Enka - Georgia Brown Medford, 67, of 11 Pine Street, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 27, 2006 at her residence. A native of McDowell County, she had resided in Buncombe County for the past 42 years. She had retired from BASF in Enka, and was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Brown. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Loftis. Surviving are her husband, John S. Medford, Jr., of the home; two sons: Robert Brigman Medford of Jacksonville, FL and Jody Lee Medford of Asheville; five sisters: Gladys Silver, Peggy Brigman, Billy Ann Burgess, Wanda Schaeffer, and Brenda Guderian; three brothers: Carroll Brown, Chucky Brown and Lucky Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Carter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2 PM Monday at the funeral home.
