Gerald M. Candler

Surfside Beach, SC Gerald Marshall Candler, 57, of 1351 Inverness Ct, Surfside Beach, SC 29575, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008. A native of Buncombe County, he had resided in Surfside since 1997. He was a son of the late Everette J. and Hazel P. Candler. Mr. Candler was a Land Developer and Consultant. He was a 1968 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School, received his Associate Degree from Montreat Anderson College and attended Mars Hill College. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Penland Candler of the home; daughters, Carey Candler Ballard, Leslie Candler Smith and Cassandra Candler Stout all of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Cloie Darian Candler Ballard, Mikayla Elizabeth Stout and Malia Amorette Ballard all of Myrtle Beach; sister, Melba C. Riddle of Weaverville and brothers, Gene Candler and David Candler both of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Melba Riddle, Weaverville.
