Grace Calloway Whitt

Asheviile - .Grace Calloway Whitt 76 of 75 Haywood Street, Vanderbuilt Apartments, died Monday July 30, 2001 at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was formerly employed with Baileys Cafeteria and with the Buncombe County Courthouse. Mrs. Whitt was a W.W. I I U.S. Womens Army Corp Veteran and the daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Celia Etta Bishop Calloway. Surviving are her daughter, Debi Buchanan and husband, Brent; brothers, John Henry Calloway and Noel Calloway and wife, Joan all of Asheville; grandchildren, Johnny Mathes, Jr., Jason Mathes and Amberli Hipps; great granddaughter, Taylor Mathes and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Clarks Chapel U.M. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
