Harry Lee Payne

Leicester – Harry Lee Payne, 71, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Everette and Julia Rhymer Payne. Mr. Payne was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a graduate of Blanton’s Business College. He retired from Kmart and Dillards and was a member of Newfound Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Judy Jarrett Payne; children: Lisa Yates of Hendersonville, Michael Payne of Asheville, and Donald Payne and wife Carla of Asheville; grandchildren: Ryan Yates, David Payne, Olivia Payne, Emily Payne, Skyler Randall, Debby Short, Briana Short, and Benjamin Payne; a great-granddaughter, Brianna; brothers: Larry Bruce Payne and wife Julie of Oklahoma, and Perry Eugene Payne of Asheville; several nieces and nephews; and good friend and fishing buddy, Larry Lunsford. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Lewis officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The family will travel in procession from Anders-Rice Funeral Home at 1:45 PM on Saturday.
