Candler Helen Louis Browning Sutton, 76, of 134 Hookers Gap Road, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Franklin, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was formerly a dishwasher at Edge of Town and Tastee Diner Restaurants. Mrs. Sutton was a daughter of the late Newton and Vennie Herron Browning and wife of the late Paul Knoel Sutton. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Browning; sister, Margaret Hyde and grandson, Travis Brent Wade. Surviving are her companion of 47 years, Ronald Dow Hawkins of the home; daughters, Sharon Ann Wade of Whittier and Marquietta Rathbone of Brevard; grandchildren, Sam Wade (Denise), Pam Owen (Joel), Craig Rathbone, Brent Rathbone, Saundra Wade, Lee Jay Wade, Nicholas Wade (Carrie) and Kelly Rathbone (Jason); 9 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Veil York and brother, Kenneth Newton Browning (Betty) all of Franklin. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, February 25, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Furman Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home.
