Henry Jr. Goforth

Asheville - Henry Earl Goforth, Jr., 72, of Sand Hill Road, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his residence. A native of Danville, VA, Mr. Goforth had resided in Buncombe County since 1997. He was a graduate of M.I.T., and was the owner/operator of Spego. He had been a Mason for most of his life, and was a US Army Ranger from 1958-62. Mr. Goforth was the son of the late Henry Earl and Naomi Hill Goforth, and was also preceded in death by a son, David B. Goforth; and brother, William Charlie Goforth. Surviving are his wife, Debra Brown Goforth; children: Stanley Goforth of Mint Hill, NC, Charlie Goforth of Mars Hill, and Fran G. Nelson of Hendersonville; sister, Mary Ellen Velesquez of Candler; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. C. Daryl Overton officiating. Burial will follow at Hice Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
