Herman C. Smith

WEST ASHEVILLE Herman Columbus Smith, 61, of 7 Manila Street, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his residence. A native and resident most of his life of Asheville. He retired from MSD where he had served as a Supervisor and formerly was employed with the City of Asheville. Mr. Smith was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and was the son of the late Carl and Lela G. Stroupe Smith. Surviving are his son, Carl Michael Smith of Winston-Salem; sister, Judy Smith of Arden. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 12, 2006, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Leonard Stroupe officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
