Hilda C. Buckner

Candler Hilda Jearleen Christopher Buckner, 73, of Tilley Basin Lane, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she worked in Housekeeping at the Grove Park Inn for a number of years. Mrs. Buckner was the daughter of the late Perry M. and Nora Griffin Christopher. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: James G. Christopher and Thurman E. Christopher. Surviving are her husband, Bill Buckner, of the home; daughters: Diane Foster of Leicester, Marsha Plemmons of Candler, and Debbie Blankenship of Asheville; grandchildren: Belinda Clark, Andy Foster, Scott Foster, Vanessa Reynolds, Travis Plemmons, and Matthew Balnkenship; great-grandchildren: Michelle VanHonk, Arron Waters, Danielle Waters, Austin Plemmons, Michaela Plemmons, Robert Perry and Joe Perry; sisters: Betty Rogers of Candler and Linda Ledford of Baltimore, MD; brother, Johnny M. Christopher of Candler; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at Red Oak Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
