Hillary Rice

Asheville Hillary Alfred Rice, 66, of 51 Goldview Road, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Brian Center in Weaverville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a 1966 graduate of North Buncombe High School, worked as a contractor for Sears, was a carpenter and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam War, stationed in Korea and in Vietnam. Mr. Rice was a son of Annie Reems Rice of the home and the late Ellis Henry Rice. Surviving in addition to his mother are his brother, Harlan Rice (Joy); sisters, Margaret Sluder (Dean), Ellen Walker (Jim) and Unice Roberts (Kenneth) and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Lanny Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:15 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
