Irene K. Ellis

Asheville – Easter Irene Kilby Ellis, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at The Laurels at Summit Ridge.

A native of Roane County, TN, she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired in 1997 as a Registered Nurse, formerly employed with Mission and St. Joseph’s Hospitals and was a member of Brookstone Church.

She was the daughter of the late James Samuel Kilby and Sinda Lou Norris Kilby. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Ellis; one sister and nine brothers.

Surviving are her children, Margaret Ellis of Asheville, David Ellis and wife Pat of Asheville and Joseph Ellis and wife Julie of Simpsonville, SC; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Honors will be conducted by the NC Nurses Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Thursday prior to services at the funeral home.
