Irene Travis Collins

Asheville - Irene Travis Collins, 87, of 79 Merion Drive died Thursday May 6, 2004 at St. Josephs Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of Jackson County, she lived in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a member Calvary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Bessie B. Travis and the wife of the late O.C. Collins. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Glenn and Clyde Travis and 2 grandchildren, Jeff Collins and Danny Watts. Surviving are her daughter, Carole Collins Watts of Asheville; son, Charles Scott Collins, Sr.. and wife Dodie of Asheville; sisters, Lucy Travis Tucker of Kernersville and Beatrice Travis Brooks of Hampton, VA.; brother, Ray Travis of Candler; 3 grandchildren, Scott Collins, Jr. and wife Julia, Beth Collins and Mark Watts and 4 great grandsons, Tony, John and Robert Collins and Seaver Watts. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
