James Edward Reis

FAIRVIEW - James Edward Reis, 85, of Fairview, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012. A resident of most of his life of Buncombe County, Mr. Reis was a US Army veteran and loved music and swimming. He had a kind word and joke for most everyone, and was proud of his German heritage. Mr. Reis was the son of the late Edward and Mary Fendel Reis, and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Louise. Surviving is the mother of his children, Mildred; children: Gordon, Karla, Victor, Jeffrey, Suzie, Christopher, and Amy; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family, C/O Chris Reis, PO Box 2412, Fariview, NC 28730, to assist with final expenses.
