James Edwin "Sonny" Hensley

Asheville - James Edwin Sonny Hensley, 68, of 34 Cherokee Road died Wednesday July, 28 at St. Josephs Hospital after a short illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was employed with Putmans Body Repair and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a son of the late Edwin Fred Hensley and Hazel Lucille Roberts Hensley and was also preceded in death by wife, Julia May Hall Hensley who died in 1998. Surviving are his daughters, Debra Ann Hensley and Donna Lynn Hensley both of Asheville and Bridget Hensley of the home; son, Rodgey Lee Hensley of Asheville; sisters, Doris Harrell and Lee Ann Cole both of Asheville; brother, Ronnie Hensley of Bruce, MS.; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
