James Gerald Knighten

James Gerald Knighten, 77, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by family. A native and lifelong resident Buncombe County, he was the son of the late James Marvin Knighten and Lola Faye Merrill Knighten. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Syble Faye Capps, and Laura Reynolds; and brothers: Gary Knighten, Bernarr Knighten, and Carrol Knighten. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty Jo Jackson Knighten; daughter, Kelly Jean Munro and her husband John Wesley of Asheville; son, James Robert Knighten and his wife Tammy of Leicester; brother, Bruce Knighten of Asheville; grandchildren: Crystal Raye Knighten, Amanda Michelle Ingle, James Hamilton Knighten, Joseph Munro, and Christian Munro; great-grandchildren: Jessica Breanne Ingle, Victoria Rose Ingle, and James Gage Knighten; and by many nieces and nephews. Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Green Hills Cemetery with Rev. Robert Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
