James Morris Sorrells

Fairview James Morris Sorrells, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, he was a son of the late Ernest Franklin Sorrells and Jessie Florence Miller Sorrells. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Virginia Owensby and Maxine Chumney; brothers: Robert E. Sorrells, Ray Sorrells, Jay Sorrells, and Albert Sorrells. Mr. Sorrells was a Veteran of the US Army and a member of Oakley United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife Kathryn S. Sorrells of the home; son, Robert Keith Sorrells and wife Terry of Bixby, OK; daughter, Janet Marie Adams and husband Bruce of Fairview; sister, Betty Chapman of Marion; sister-in-law, Rowena Sorrells of Asheville; brothers: Eugene Sorrells of Asheville, and Jack Sorrells and wife Louise of Asheville; 6 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
