James Waldrop

West Asheville James Phil Moon Waldrop, 72, of 105 Olney Road went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at his residence. A lifelong residence of Buncombe County, Mr. Waldrop retired in 1990 following 20 years of service with the Asheville Fire Department. He was a son of the late James Phillip Waldrop and Clara Lucille Whittemore Waldrop and was also preceded in death by a brother, Freddy Waldrop and sister, Sherry Waldrop. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ducker Waldrop with whom they were married July 1, 1987; daughters, Dianne Holmes and husband Larry and Lynn Bellows and husband Mark all of Asheville; sons, Michael Waldrop and wife Almeria of Candler and Brandon Waldrop of Swanannoa; 5 grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Thompson of Candler; brother, Kenny Waldrop of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be held 6 to 8 PM Friday, September 14, 2012 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
