Jessie Lee Bailey

Swannanoa - Jessie Lee Bailey, 82, of 4 Valley View died Friday, June 6, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Madison County. She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and retired from Asheville Manufacturing Co. where she was a seamstress. Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of the late Morrison Young Snelson and Emma Jean Allen Snelson. She was also preceded in death by her son, Talmadge Sexton; sisters, Helen Higgins, Margaret Plemmons and Laura Dodd; brothers, Herman, James, Robert and Lloyd Snelson. Surviving are her daughters, Doris Reynolds of Asheville and Ann Harper of Fairview; son, Lloyd Danny Bailey of Swannanoa; sisters, Eloise Horne of Richmond, Va., Kathleen Edwards of Mars Hill, Genevieve McMahan of Weaverville and Laurie Swain of Burnsville; brother, Tom Snelson of Marshall; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Bartlett and Mr. Danny Lee Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Snelson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
