Jim Messer

CANDLER James Eugene Jim Messer, 76, of 38 Sunray Cove Rd. passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Haywood County, he had resided in Buncombe County for the past 63 years and was formerly employed with the Buncombe County Schools. He was a member of White Rock Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a son of the late Kennedy William and Sarah Glee Fisher Messer. Surviving are his wife, Mary Christine Plemmons Messer; sons, Gene Messer and wife, Regina of Asheville and Brian Messer of Candler; sister, Ruth Daphene Nunn of Candler; brothers, William A. Messer of Citrus Springs, FL and Frank D. Messer of Candler; grandchildren, Shawn Messer of Canton, Kellan Patridge of the United Kingdom, Jennifer Baker of Whitmire, SC and Ashley Parker of Asheville and 3 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Friday, February 26, 2010 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Oliver officiating. Memorial services will be held 6 PM Saturday, March 6, 2010 at White Rock Baptist Church. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting his family.
