Jim Whiteside

Asheville – James Walter “Jim” Whiteside, 76, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 16, 2021. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late James Taylor Whiteside and Dorothy Boone Whiteside. Mr. Whiteside was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the US Navy, was an avid golfer and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Alexander for over 30 years. Following his working career he enjoyed serving as a Ranger for Reems Creek and Crown Plaza Golf Course. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Marian Jones Whiteside; sister, Linda Smith and husband, Don of Asheville; brothers, David Whiteside and wife, Mary of Bostic and Richard Whiteside of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 19, 2021, at Green Hills Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Meadows officiating. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
