Joan Marie Gibbs Caraway

Mars Hill – Joan Marie Gibbs Caraway, 82, passed away after a period of declining health on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. She resided in Buncombe County for the past 35 years and was a daughter of the late Albert Ferdinand Gibbs and Marie Floyd Northrop Gibbs. She was also preceded in death by her children: Timothy David Gasperson and Barry Lee Gasperson, and a sister, Ruby Gibbs Norman. Surviving are her children: Rose Gasperson Cobb of Asheville, Rebecca Lynn Sellers of Florida, Jeffery Allen Gasperson of Johnson City, TN, and Krystina Nicole Hunter and husband, Josh of Mars Hill; granddaughter, Elaina Harwood of Florida; great-grandchildren: Ian Jones, Lyla Hunter, Elisea Garcia, and Ana Cogburn; brothers: David Gibbs of Florida, and Albert Gibbs of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. She will be interred at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
