Joshua Carter Henderson

Asheville - Joshua Carter Henderson, 88, died Monday April 8, 2002 at his home after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from the Asheville Fire Department in 1974 after 34 years of service as a fireman and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a son of the late William Anson and Cordie Fitzgerald Henderson and the husband of the late Ruth Spurling Henderson. He was also preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Surviving are his daughters, Judy Smith of Asheville and Joyce Pruett of Candler; grandsons, Mike Smith of Candler and Scott Pruett of Asheville; nephews, Jerry and Ronnie Henderson and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
