Judy Bryson Young, a devoted family woman, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on August 22, 1947, in Cullowhee, North Carolina, Judy lived most of her life in the Asheville area where she built a lasting legacy through her professional work and personal kindness.
A proud graduate of Lee Edwards High School’s class of 1966, Judy dedicated over two decades to serving as a Community Representative for McDonald's. In this role, she was the friendly and approachable face handling public relations and special events throughout Western North Carolina and South Carolina. Her commitment to fostering community spirit and connection was evident in every event she organized and supported. Later, she worked ten years for Bussman in Black Mountain, continuing to contribute to the local workforce with diligence and enthusiasm.
Judy was known for her vibrant personality—friendly, outgoing, and full of fun. She had a profound love for her family, friends, and especially her pets, which brought her immense joy throughout her life. Her beloved dogs, Smiget and Puddly, were constant companions, as were many other pets she cared for with great affection.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John Raymond Young, whom she married on January 19, 1970. Judy’s legacy of love endures in her sons, Sean Cameron Young and Shane Young and his wife Allison Young. She was a doting grandmother to Sky Jade Young, Cameron Young, and Trenton Pearson, who will carry forward her spirit of warmth and kindness. Judy also leaves behind her brother, Dickie Bryson, and cherished niece and nephew, Becky Bryson and Randy Bryson, along with many extended family members who lovingly remember her.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Maida Lee Bryson Rogers, whose memory she held close throughout her life.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to pay their respects during a visitation in the Chapel of Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home, located at 1428 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
